Shoes and necklace: Topshop. Sunglasses: c/o Specspost. Outfit: MADE BY MY FAIR HANDS.

I did this shoot for a project I handed in at Uni a few days back and I thought I'd show you guys my fiercest model poses... big thanks to my rather fabulous boss who snapped these for me after work. Who'd have thought the stairs up to my office would be the perfect place for the photo shoot session! These were for a competition as well as so we'll see how that goes but everyone who entered was seriously amazing so I don't think I'll have much of a chance I'm afraid!

I utterly adore this fabric, so much so that when I found it I bought 4 metres and I'm totally wishing I'd bought more! I'm hoping to whip up a circle skirt and crop top with what I have left if I can! I decided to go with a cute retro inspired look with modern accent, hence the amazing shoes and my statement necklace. I was sent this sunglasses as a lovely surprise from Specspost and I'm completely over the moon and have already been worn countless times, even inside! They've got my prescription in and they're just perfect to injecting some vintage glamour to my peepers!

My sewing skills still aren't top notch but I am getting better and as I'm slowly learning to make patterns in my size (this one for the competition was originally a size 6) thanks to my tutors help, I'm hoping my confidence will grow! I'll hopefully have another shoot for you soon with a jacket I designed and created myself, some of you may have seen it on my Instagram way back at the end of January when I finished that unit. I'm hoping to post more of my Uni things, so hopefully you like seeing what I design and make!

The old fashioned shop.

Just a quick post to show you the interior of a little museum I've now visited twice with both my parents on separate occasions. Its actually about a 5ish minute walk from my uni and my halls, I really love this place its also free which is a bonus! They have a whole street set out inside too and its soo cool, though theres sound effects in the pub room (which I'll show you another time) that bloody terrified me and my mum!

I love the idea of shops being like this again even though this is very much in the past and with stores adding more and more high tech pieces to them, there is no way anywhere would go back to how it was in the good old days! Oh gosh I'm seriously starting to sound like my mum, help! There was also some lovely sections which how they displayed the ribbons and fabrics and being a fashion student I obviously loved it!

Right just thought I'd throw out there that I'm going to the Curves in Couture show (with much thanks to Evolve mag who invited me as one of there guests) in London next Thursday, which its pretty last minute and slightly unplanned but should be super fun, I'm even staying with a very old friends who's at uni in London so I'm very much looking forward to it! Let me know if your going so I can say hi or come sit with you! I'm also hopefully going to the Simply Be/Simply Yours event the Thursday after that too and I'll be staying in London on the Wednesday evening ready for the event on the Thursday morning so if your going to that let me know to!!!

This is Alice Rose Verney she a freelance illustrator who primarily focus's her talents on fashion and lifestyle. She uses a lot of mixed media, mainly collage and experimental photography which includes traditional and digital . Alice enjoys experimenting with new techniques and media which had led her to hugely developing her individual style of illustration.

With Alice's work I really admire her use of fabric incorporated with the pencil sketches. And how she likes to mix it up between photography, drawing, fabrics and papers. In my own work i would very much wish to take inspiration from Alice by using a stronger mix of media as well as adding pieces to the more traditional sketches I produce. I have taken inspiration from some of Verney's work with a piece which is in my file.

Alice Rose Verney tends to combine traditional and digital by originally hand sketching out the shape and basic structures of her piece out, then by scanning it into a photo editor (which could be photoshop) She has been known to edit magazine or 'clown' head onto the models bodies showing how Alice plays with scale. In my opinion I perceive some of Verney's work as quite dark. Such as the clown and deformed faces she uses for a range of her work, to some people it may be seen as disturbing to others original it just depends on your taste?

These to bottom Images are my favourite style of Alice's work. She says on her website that she realised early on that doing collage was her calling and that as she developed her own personal style she realised it was one of her biggest strengths. Alice Verney also likes to play with the positioning of the anatomy and repetition. Which is extremely clear when you look at her almost x-ray like collages. On the mood of Alice's work i see her collages here as almost glowing? or midnight by this I mean like glow in the dark . It also views as possibly a rave or techno style.

What do you all think of Alice Verney? Is she your cup of tea?
