A weekend or so just gone I had the pleasure of being invited by the lovely team at Lynette Page to have a little makeover done at their Make Up Bar and flagship store in Knutsford, Cheshire. I absolutely jumped at the chance as for me there is nothing I love more than having my make up done and also learning a few tips and tricks along the way! Firstly the salon itself is utterly delightful with huge windows and plenty of natural light which made the place bright even though it was raining! (Typical North West weather!) Lynette herself and one of the artists Holly were both busy when I first walked in but they both were absolutely lovely and welcoming something I sometimes find rare in salons or when I've had my make up done professionally in the past in department stores etc. 

Lynette who's is the owner of the make up bar and Academy created my look on the day. She asked what I liked my make up to do and what I usually created myself. Next she showed me her new skincare range which I'll have more on in a future post as I also attended the launch! Though I do have to say it's rare that I'm actually impressed with skincare products these days but her system was brilliant! Usually when I'm wearing a full face of make up by the end of the day when I'm ready to remove it my spot prone skin will be all riled up and I'll end up with pimples and bumps in my skin, but when Lynette used her Skin Care System not only did I notice that the make up stayed even and didn't go patchy on my combination areas but also no pimples appeared at the end of the night! The one product that I definitely NEED in my life is the Holiday Romance Lipstick which Lynette used on my lips which is a Demi Matte True Orange and as soon as the colour was on I absolutely loved it and this is one red toned lipstick I don't have anything like in my collection! It also wears incredibly well!

So just remember to smile and turn the world around!

As an avid lipstick wearer I do always worry about how my teeth look against it, I mean I know they aren't perfectly straight and in the past I've certainly taken them for granted as well as being so clumsy which never  great it comes to soft and somewhat sensitive teeth. I was sent this set of Blanx - White Shock goodies a couple of weeks back and I wanted to give it a proper test before I popped it up on here as a review. I'm no expert when it comes to the ins and outs of looking after my teeth in fact it's taken me far to long to pluck up the courage to floss as the sensation of it is like finger nails on a chalk board to me!

I have often found in the past that anything that aids whitening teeth has always been awfully strong to which my eyes could be watering while I'm trying to brush, this also applies to mouth wash but I was really surprised to find these products not to have this case. My teeth and mouth felt squeaky clean without a funny after taste or it being so strong I look like I've rubbed onion under my eyes! I'm sure you've also noticed the rather futuristic lid on the toothpaste which is an LED light the Blanx website says "The LED light works as a booster to the Actilux® in the BlanX White Shock formula, activating the formula as it passed through the tube. You can also use the light on the end of the toothpaste tube to boost the formula whist on your teeth by holding the light in front of your mouth for 1 minute everyday." Now as snazzy as it looks I thought it was going to be rather gimmicky and not actually do much use but from following the instructions I'm sure it's made my teeth be much bright all in the matter of a week or so! The Gel pen is also something I wouldn't be sure about as it only recommends to use this a few times a week I haven't had chance to see a massive difference with this but it is a pleasure to apply thanks to the thoughtful design! 

I'm going to keep going with these products and use the handy Blanxometro which came with it so I see how much the colouring of my teeth can be improved!

My Mum has iincredible sensitive teeth and she's even started using it and she's not felt irritated at all. So if you'd love clearer teeth but are worried due to the sensitivityely I'd certainly still give it a try!

Nails, Nails, Nails.

Now as it's clear from these pictures I'm probably not the best person to talk to you all about nail care as I've had the habit of biting my nails for virtually my whole life and I've tried every treatment under the sun and nothing has really worked. Even though my nails are extremely short I always like to have them painted but the skin around them is awful, partly to blame is my bad habit but the other is also because I now spent a fair amount of time sewing or using pins/needles/scissors/overlockers etc and my skin takes a hit everytime I accidentally jab myself with any of these such things resulting in dry irritated hands.

I've decided 2014 will be the year I look after my skin better starting with keeping my poor hands and feet in better condition (I wouldn't dare post a photo of my feet as that just on a whole other level gross!) I'm going to treat tired, dry feet with gel socks to get my tootsies in tip top condition for the summer so I will wear lovely sandals again without hiding my feet in pop socks and converse!

Even though I am an avid nail biter I have a slight obsession with nail polish particularly the more sparkle the better in my opinion!

Your hair is a Wonderland.

 

 

Double Volume Straight Instant Weave in Dip Dye: c/o Wonderland Wigs. 

Lipstick: Topshop - Brighton Rock .

The lovely team over at Wonderland Wigs sent me this fabulous hair piece before Christmas but I've only just had chance to snap some photographs with it! For the last few years I've been intrigued by hair extent ions and pieces but all I had stuck in my head was those ones around a bobble you used to get in Claire's which were pretty horrendous so they'd put me off ever so slightly. Though after this baby came through the door I knew my mind would soon change, I'm utterly in love with this! It feels great quality the hair looks fab without giving off that synthetic look. What impressed me the most was how well it matches my hair, I of course just looked at the dip dye one and decided I needed this one as I was missing my old bleached locks (though they were A LOT shorter than this) my own hair blends rather well and I found it rather easy to style once I'd got it comfortably in place, here's a fab step by step on how to put it on. If you're after something fun or even something plain Wonderland wigs have everything it took me what felt like days scrolling through the site and for how lovely the service and pieces, it was wonderful!

I styled it in the quite tradition way and also with the pony tail style which is on the packaging this one couldn't be easier it has a drawstring around the outside to pull it in around a bun on your head then all you have to do is pop a few kirby grips to hold it in place and voila The Perfect Long Pony. I paired these with a slick of my new lipstick I picked up in the Topshop sale. I also cut my own fringe (again last night so I do apologise if any hairdressers read this and see the state it's in!)

The Rich is Back!

Wearing all Benefit on my face bar face powder, concealer and a red lip stain used to enhance the gloss.

This is part of my make up looks with the fabulous Limited Edition Matthew Williamson The Rich is Back Makeup Kit from Benefit. The lovelies who sent me this said create anything you like and as I'm very much still an amature when it comes to applying make up so this was certainly something different! Now if we were talking lipstick I could do that like a pro but generally speaking I never bother with my eyes as they're either covered by my glasses or my annoying thick hair. I was most excited for the mini mascara to arrive as  I've seen so much hype around the piece that I wanted to try one for myself! I wouldn't say it's life changing moment when I pop it on but it keeps my lashes dark and thick without it all smudging down the road in the rain after you've ran everywhere else too! My look is an alternative on the classic Cat Eye flick!

Step by Step:

1. Covered whole eye socket in disco dust, taking particular attention to the corner of my eyes.
2. Kept Solid Gold concentrated on my lid only to create the a shimmering effect when layered.

3. shaded with Get Down Brown and blended with some more Solid Gold

4. Put a cotton ball dipped into water and dampen the end of a fine eyeliner brush (mines from Real Techniques) and line eyes with a flick using Feel So Teal.
5. Lightly used Get Down Brown and Feel So Teal sparingly on my lower lash line.
6. Curled my lashes then used They're Real Mascara and used the tip for lower lashes.

7. I used a felt tip lip stain under the gloss to give a slightly more intense colour.
8. Finally used Gimme Fever lightly on cheeks and also on my brow bone to catch the light.

I'm no beauty whizz but I was super happy with how this look came out! And of course also loved this fab set! I've always been a fan of Benefit Cosmetics but always shied away from anything but there primers but this would be fabulous as a gift for some of my nearest and dearest as even though the colours aren't something I'd normally wear they're all set out to compliment each other beautifully! This was my first ever kind of beauty post so I'm still a little wobbly with my descriptions! This look was used in an upcoming outfit post and I'll be posting my second look shortly!
