Unleash - Dear Scantilly

Unleash set by Dear Scantilly (via Curvy Kate). Glasses from Specsavers. Hair Flower by Pin Up Curl.

Before I ramble further I just want to say the only editing on these photos is altering the light as I took these in my studio space and the lighting sucks there even at the best times of day! I'm going to try and not to ramble on this post but I probably still will! If you've been following my blog since the start (god help you!) you'll have seen how I've changed as a person which is something I love about running A Rose Like This for so long. These type of images are something I'd never think I'd be posting in the future back then but you know what I fucking love them. Are they perfect, no? Do I wish there was perfect lighting and I could pose like a professional, maybe but you know what this is me and where I am at this point in my life. Almost 24 and pretty much accepting my body as it is because hell it's the only one I'll ever have. Sure sometimes I think it would be easier if I wasn't fat but doesn't everyone feel like that sometimes? So here I am my size 20 body, cellulite, wobbly bits and all.

If you haven't tried any lingerie from Dear Scantilly you seriously need to. this set and another half cup bra from them I own make me feel like I could take on the world! Even if I'm just wearing really boring clothes over them! I'm wearing a 38E as I do with any Curvy Kate products and it fits well and more inportantly the band is comfortable to wear. I also love these high waist bottoms which have a cute cut out on the back, I actually ordered the largest size they do and could have easily sized down!

Lingerie Love.

Black Chemise with Suspender Straps: c/o Ninex Lingerie. Black Strapless Bra (barely seen): Triumph. Hair Scarf: Vintage, Thrifted.

I'm back with another adorable lingerie post for you! This time in collaboration with Ninex Lingerie. I did a review of one of their baby dolls at least 18 months ago now and the lovely team reached out to me again to see if I'd like to review something from their new pieces and This pretty lace number caught my eye. I just wish I could have gotten some better photos of this item though as these don't do it justice! (perils of having to use self timer in your bedroom!)

One of the things I love about Ninex is that the pieces have a really good price point but they are actually also comfortable. For instance if I'd bought a cheaper babydoll the lace could be scratchy and irritate my sensitive skin but this chemise is lovely and soft which is often rare with cheaper lace lingerie and nightwear in my opinion. I'm wearing a 4XL I believe which is probably a 20/22 it fits well and hugs the body well but doesn't cling in an uncomfortable way at all. I decided to do my usual vintage kind of style but with added omph! I felt really cute in this overall look and I really hope it shows through on the photos! If you're a more casual kind of girl when it comes to nightwear etc Ninex do the cutest cami and short sets which I'm eyeing up for when I eventually need summer appropriate sleepwear!

Vintage Style Lingerie with Simply Be.

Floral High Waisted Lingerie Set: c/o Simply Be. Hair Scarf: Vintage. Glasses: Specsavers.

I've been meaning to post about Plus Size Vintage inspired underwear for quite some time! It's something I feel like I'm always on the hunt for as it's hard to find cute retro inspired vintage lingerie to fit a bigger body! As my tastes when it comes to fashion are quite often favouring towards times gone by, the same goes for my underwear. There is nothing more than I love than a full high waisted brief but so often they can be very basic and not all that pretty! Day to day I'm perfectly happy with this but from time to time particularly when I'm wearing my full vintage get up I like to know my underwear is equally as cute but most importantly comfortable! I'm lucky that if you look at Simply Be currently they have a number of pieces in lingerie that have an adorable vintage twist from corset styled bra's to the sweetest high waisted briefs. You can see some of my picks here, here and here.

In this cute as a button floral set I wear a bra size 38DD and knickers in a UK20 and I'd say they're true to size. I've worn this set for afternoons out and while running errands and it's comfortable and doesn't really irritate me which often sets not made from cotton can do. I like a good high waist pair of knickers to wear with my high waisted skirts and I think these certainly do the job without feeling like I'm wearing hardcore shape wear. I styled this lingerie set to it's full vintage effect with my token retro red lip, some 1950s eyeliner flicks and my cat eye glasses. I also decided to add one of my many vintage chiffon headscarves to my hair and set my fringe in a Bettie Bang something I'm still coming to grips with while I'm trying to grow out my fringe! It's at that stage where it is constantly annoying me! I also filmed a little video for my YouTube Channel of this look which you can see below!

Elomi Anushka.

Anushka Set: c/o Elomi Lingerie. Kimono: c/o Yours Clothing (last season)

Here I am with another lingerie post for you, aren't you all lucky? After Elomi won best Lingerie at The Plus Size Awards they sent me the Anushka Half cup padded Bra and briefs as I attended with them but due to how crazy Christmas was I'm only just having chance to post these up to show you. I've been putting it off as I was worried these photos may not come across all that well but it's a beautiful lacy dare I say even pretty sexy set and I wanted to show you guys!

Half cup bra's are something I can't really say I've ever tried but I do love this one the padding is just right now so much I feel like it's just padding and no boob but not so little that I feel insecure about getting the dreaded nip on in this freezing weather! Here I'm wearing a 38DD and it fits well, I've never had an issue with sizing when it comes to Elomi and they were the first team to fit me so I knew what size my boobs actually were! (however my size does fluctuate depending on brand etc) what I particularly like about this set is that it feels grown up and snazzy to put on and flounce around in but it's also wearable, so I can actually wear this and it's comfortable! The full knickers aren't as high waisted as I normally like in a lingerie set but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked them on, here I'm wearing a UK20 in the briefs which I would say are true to size but don't have a lot of stretch in the fabric. As always the detailing with Elomi is also adorable, I decided to style this with rough/messy hair and a slick of ruby lipstick to match the underwear. I also went with the kimono to cover as I'm so pale I end up almost invisible with the white wall background!

I can't wait to see some of Elomi's upcoming pieces in person which you can see here. Including this utterly lovely Raquel set which I think gives off a stunning vintage vibe and would look beautiful on!

Feeling Festive with Curvy Kate.

Bra and Short: c/o Curvy Kate. Top: Dorothy Perkins. Hair Accessories: Crown and Glory.

I LOVE THIS BRA.
There I said it, I've fallen in love all over again with the fabulous Tease Me from Curvy Kate!

I received one a couple of years ago and utterly adored it but my boobs grew and if I wore it now I'd get the dreaded boob overspill and I knew it was time for a upgrade so I was oh so happy when they brought this style back and the lovely ladies at Curvy Kate sent it across to me! I've only tried one other style from Curvy Kate which is the Daily Boost as I'd heard so many positives about it from bloggers and non bloggers alike but I have to say it's nothing compared to Tease me for my own shape anyway I would like to try some other styles just to see but I genuinely adore this one so much!

I was sent a 38E which the centre core of sits flush against me and I feel well upholstered but not restricted and uncomfortable which is a major plus in my book! Of course the bra itself is oh so pretty and I feel pretty in it which is the Rosie of years gone by would have never have thought would matter with underwear and lingerie but it genuinely does! I also got to try the Suspender Short in a UK20 and they fit really well and actually cover my bum which is something I find a rarity with pants in this day and age these also made me feel pretty and I look forward to trying some hold ups with these and one of my pretty vintage dresses, finally the festive part of this post is my lovely hair accessories from Crown and Glory, always have the cutest bits and bobs!

I will just say again how much I LOVE this bra and Curvy Kate in general. they are AMAZING.

Dear Kate - The Ella Mini Brief in XL (c/o). Swing Dress (Just seen): Matalan.

I got sent these utterly lovely briefs from Dear Kate an absolute age ago but due to a few shifts around at home they went missing for a short time but alas I have finally retrieved them from the depths of the borrowers living in my house!

Dear Kate are made by women for women, they are a new kind of underwear with a built-in breathable panel that will give women the confidence to take on the world! I love these, not only are they really cute with pretty lace details and the adorable bow but they also fit well, I'm wearing an XL which I would say certainly wouldn't fit anyone bigger than a UK 18/20 on the bottom as they're snug on me, which I don't mind at all. Secondly how cute is the packaging?! I'm a sucker for anything in tiny boxes with sweet quotes and illustrations attached, so these tick ALL THE BOXES for me. Basically this brand are a massive high five to girl power and I love that! Not only do they do all these lovely and practical knickers and briefs but they also do some bralets to match signature bottoms in the range including one to match The Ella which is available here.

You can get 20% off your first order with them on their site! And yes those are some cheeky snaps of my thigh... I'm slowly lowering myself back into more underwear reviews again, it's been awhile! I also couldn't help using Buddy Holly lyrics for my title.

Find Your Perfect Shapewear with M&S.

Last week I was lucky enough to be contacted by a lovely lady from Marks and Spencer's to see if I'd like to try out there new Shapewear tool on the website, then test out the piece of shapewear it chose for me. So of course I said I'd love to! This was easy to use and explained every part so I actually knew what would work for me, it also takes your preferences into account, as I always prefer black shapewear as apposed to white or flesh coloured. You can see all my selections as I went along the six steps above, I was originally a little dubious to try this as I wasn't sure whether it would just come up with the same thing for everyone but I got my mum to try it out too so I can promise you it doesn't!

Now I have to be honest I've tried the odd bit of Shapewear in the past and never found it really did anything to enhance/encase my figure, it generally just made it harder to nip to the loo when I was in them! So I was looking forward to see what my options would be at the end and I chose the "Ultimate Magic Secret Slimming High Waisted Thigh Slimmer" primarily because it looked high sitting than the Waist Cincher, it does the same job as the Waist Cincher but is also aimed at smoothing my thighs as well.

This is part one of  "Find Your Perfect Shapewear with M&S" the next will be me in the Shapewear showing you whether it genuinely works and whether its a good match for my shape!
