There are many different avenues that one can take in pursuing a career in fashion design. Here are some guidelines on pursuing a career in fashion design as well as different careers in fashion design field.

Education and Training.

Contact professionals in the fashion design industry for advice, information, and feedback on your drawings and designs.

The next step in pursuing a career in fashion design is to complete a college degree program in fashion design. At a fashion design school, you will gain both classroom and "hands-on" experience to help you secure a job in fashion design, including training in computer-aided design (CAD), business and marketing, and practical applications.

Production Work.
There are different entry-level jobs in the fashion design industry. Recent graduates may need to do basic entry-level work before working their way up to a fashion designer job. Many of the entry-level jobs are in production. This includes doing sewing work, either by hand or with a sewing machine, cutters who cut out patterns by hand or with aid of a computer, and pattern graders, who take existing patterns and modify them for various sizes of clothing.

Artists and Sketchers.
Artists and sketchers create new designs with the use of CAD software. The "blueprints" of these designs are then used for replication or mass production.

Designers.
There are different types of designers. There are assistant designers, who support lead designers in the creation of fashion designs. There are head designers, who make fashion design while supervising other designers and support staff. There are also specialty designers and designers who create designs for exhibits and fashion shows.

Additional Careers.
Additional careers in fashion design include pattern makers, spec and fit technicians, and fashion trend researchers.

The its functionality is still very much appreciated since it does a really good job in protecting those hands from heat or cold while giving a better grip for those whose hands tend to sweat a lot more.
