Cause, Lipstick on your Collar Told a Tale on you, Boy.

I did this shoot for a project I handed in at Uni a few days back and I thought I'd show you guys my fiercest model poses... big thanks to my rather fabulous boss who snapped these for me after work. Who'd have thought the stairs up to my office would be the perfect place for the photo shoot session! These were for a competition as well as so we'll see how that goes but everyone who entered was seriously amazing so I don't think I'll have much of a chance I'm afraid! 

I utterly adore this fabric, so much so that when I found it I bought 4 metres and I'm totally wishing I'd bought more! I'm hoping to whip up a circle skirt and crop top with what I have left if I can! I decided to go with a cute retro inspired look with modern accent, hence the amazing shoes and my statement necklace. I was sent this sunglasses as a lovely surprise from Specspost and I'm completely over the moon and have already been worn countless times, even inside! They've got my prescription in and they're just perfect to injecting some vintage glamour to my peepers!

My sewing skills still aren't top notch but I am getting better and as I'm slowly learning to make patterns in my size (this one for the competition was originally a size 6) thanks to my tutors help, I'm hoping my confidence will grow! I'll hopefully have another shoot for you soon with a jacket I designed and created myself, some of you may have seen it on my Instagram way back at the end of January when I finished that unit. I'm hoping to post more of my Uni things, so hopefully you like seeing what I design and make!

Floral and Denim.

Just a post to state that I am alive and wearing clothes! It's feels so long since I did an outfit post and I promise to get a few decent pictures taken before the weekends over I've just not been very productive over the Christmas holidays which is truly awful I realise! So here is a quick snap my best friend took of me in her bedroom this evening while we sat on her bed chatting utter rubbish and giggling very loudly mostly due to one of the utterly amaze presents I got for her this Christmas!

So what am I wearing the skirt and shirt are both new pieces from the sales I actually feel I've done pretty well out of them though now I'm definitely going to have to cut down my spending. The shirt I am in love with and its so comfortable! But its one of those pieces that if the majority saw it they'd think it wasn't very nice but i love the vintage style and the floral's, my mum kindly bought it me while we were in Manchester on boxing day and it was £7 from new look inspire. The skirt I bought myself as I tend to wear the same denim skirt all the time ( and I really mean all the time it rarely comes off) I think it reminds me of a seventies style though I could be wrong! I got it from Dorothy Perkins for £15. I'll show you all my other sale items as soon as I can.

I'm hoping to do a few posts before the end of 2011, it's sounds so scary to think this year is almost over and so much has happened I might start 2012 with a look back on everything I've done and what I plan to do, hope that sounds good!

The start of my collection.

These are two toile's out of my collection, when I am finally finished I will have created four garments which believe me is quite crazy! In case you don't know what toile means (which I'm guessing a number of you may not, because I've been a fashion student for over a year and I'm still baffled by it) A toile is in basic terms a mock up of the final piece, be it a skirt or a dress. I wrote a number of posts earlier this year about my final collection and telling you what my theme was and it was based on the women's land army and the 1940s era. All my pieces will have vintage style lace collars on them as pictured in the centre pictures. The market level for my collection is high street, but good quality and well made.

Over all I am quite happy with my toile's so far, though as I'm doing the finishing touches to these two now, the machines are driving me crazy by just deciding not to work and sew really badly.ARRGGHH! Okay my little rant is over now. I'm using binding on my sleeves and necklines to make sure the collection is pulled together with matches pieces, there is also exposed zips on both of these pieces which also ties together my collection with a modern twist. I used this because I felt I needed a modern edge to my collection so it didn't just seem like they are replica's of 1940s clothing.

The fabric I've used for my toile's is not my final choice of fabric and when I've finally put them all together I'll snap a few shots for you all to see what I've decided on! It's a mix of floral upholstery fabric, a vivid lilac colour and a white cotton with an extremely faint but lovely pattern of flowers across it. These with my tough exposed zips and vintage styled lace collars should produce a distinct but stylish contrast.

The skirt on these photographs will be produce in a fabric which is in a map pattern, if anybody knows where I can source this kind of fabric please let me know! otherwise I may have to create it myself and it won't then have the exact look I'm after. In case any of you lovely people were wondering where I got my collars from I found them on eBay, there is so many different type of lace collars on eBay ranging in era's and prices.
