DIY - Neon Necklace.

These are some photographs I took while doing a little DIY I'd seen around online and on Dani's blog here. Of course her pictures are soooo much better than mine as well as her explanation of what to do so I won't drone on about how I did it as its exactly the same as what the lovely Dani did.

Mine isn't quite as neon as I would like but as I don't actually own any neon polish I think it looks pretty good! I'm also thinking about buying another necklace and doing a pastel themed one as I'd really like to see how that would work out. I bought my necklace from eBay for £1.99 and a pound postage it also came with some lovely clip on earrings which aren't really my thing so have been put into the jewellery box for pantomine! I also added more colours to it in the end so there was even less bling on show (though I did leave a little so they could catch the light and twinkle slightly) I'm going to have to wear it for a post as soon as possible so you can see the finished piece! I am thinking of either a light weight over sized denim or white shirt with leggings and flatforms and this necklace would look amazing, just going to have to hunt down such things now!

Nails, nails, nails.

These are just a few pictures of my ail art attempts I've collected over the last week or so. I'm finding it hard to blog at uni at the moment but only because I can't find anywhere to take my outfit pictures and at the moment I'm having to use the mirror so eventually I will post them up even though I'm not totally happy with them!

I bought a Andrew Fulerton Dot and Flick from superdrug during my freshers week and I've been playing with it since! One of these images is also some Barry M nail effects crackle I now own a black and white of this and tend to wear with alternate colours under neath.. so I'd have white crackle on a black nail and vice versa. After reading some of LLYMLRS posts over nail art has got me really excited to try more, including browsing eBay for all manner of goodies!

If any of you fancy seeing some of my attempts at tutorials just let me know? I hope I will be posting better in the coming weeks!

Marbled nails, first attempt!

This was my first ever try at doing marble nails, I know there not perfect but I personally think we did pretty well considering. Now all the tutorials I watched (which was a lot!) all did something slightly different so I guess you just have to find a method that works for you. I found that over all cold water worked the best as it took us about an hour of changing temperature of water and never worked well. So we gave up and used cold.

I'll let you watch the video's instead of me rambling on and not really making sense! I'm going to have ago at doing it on some fake nails I've bought as my nails are just far to short! I'd like to say thank you to my brothers girlfriend who was my hand model for these pictures, haha! We used Rimmel nail polishes and a Barry M 3 in 1 which is a top coat, nail hardener and base coat. Below is the video I watched to help me create this.

First half decent attempt at nail art ever!

Two layers of white nail varnish (as I don't own a light grey one) I prefer white anyway.

I dipped the Newspaper into the surgical spirit and pressed it onto my nail for 10ish seconds.
Peeling off the Newspaper, which on one nail I left it on to long and it got stuck!

Things I used, including my choice of Newspaper, finished nails.


This is my first remotely decent attempt at some nail art! Considering I bite my nails (which I know is a awful habit!) I adore nail art! Though having due to me having ridiculously short nails I've never really been able to do anything at all fancy other than slapping a bit of polish on. This has now changed, I love the idea of newspaper print on nails and it looks so good as well!

I'll just let you watch the video instead of me trying to type out how I did it, as I'll waffle on and it's really not difficult. Rubbing alcohol is surgical spirit and the bottle I used is probably older than me but worked fine! And definitely Make sure your varnish is dry otherwise the paper can stick to it and it'll ruin the look! In case you were wondering my choice of Newspaper was Saturdays Sun. The page I used was the article on Will Young, by the way how good is he new song!? to be totally honest the only reason I got it was because I wanted the Fabulous Magazine.

Below is the tutorial I used, I've also watched the majority of the cutepolish videos and I've bought fake nails to do them! So look out for more nail art on here in the future!

Oh, oh, starry eyed, Oh, hit me with lightning.

"Handle bars, and then I let go, let go for anyone. Take me in, and throw out my heart and get a new one. Next thing we're touching you look at me it's like you hit me with lightning Ahhh Oh, everybody's starry-eyed And everybody goes Oh, everybody's starry-eyed and my body goes.."

This is my first ever varnish post, because i love to paint my nails, even though i have the horrid habit of biting them! on my nails i have used a Barry M all in one (base coat top coat and nail harder) and Barry M nail paint in mint green. I also took inspiration from one of the wonderful bloggers i follow who used some sequins on her nails to jazz them up a bit. So i thought I'd have ago and when I'd first done them they looked really good, but the next morning when i washed my hair a few fell off so i stuck new ones one and they just kept falling off. in the future if i try this style again I'm going to get hold of some smaller stars as these ones i used were a tiny bit too big for my nails!

But over all i loved the look. i generally just use Barry M nail paints because i know the colours are always great and come out on your nails the same colour as they are in the bottle. Once i can remember who i borrowed the lovely idea off i shall tell you all because her post was heaps better than mine!
