Pearls and Velvet.

The lovely team over at Pink Clove offered me the chance to choose an item from the website to show you guys how I'd style it up and initally I was drawn to a lovely animal print number, which no doubt you'll be seeing shortly on here as I bought it for myself after dreaming about it (that's when I know I NEED something!) but I ended up deciding up on this beautiful sweetheart neckline bardot velvet dress. Now I don't know about you but I utterly adore velvet during Autmn/Winter. It's warm but most importantly feels luxorious and adds that little bit of glamour to your life.

I decided to go pretty vintage with this look as I thought it would work really well with the dress particularly the neckline. When ordering things lately I've been sizing up now I'm not sure if it's that I've gained weight or sizing but with Pink Clove I fit the size 20 in their dresses perfectly and vast majority also have stretch so they certainly have some breathing room, to boot it's also a very comfortable dress so I could be in it all night without it irritating me. I haven't worn the coat pictured for nearly a year but I think it works really well with the rich colour of the dress and as it's still freezing it was definitely needed! Under the dress I popped on a petticoat to add a little more defiinition and shape to the skirt, added my reproduction pearls and cute playing card clutch bag I picked up in the Next sale and it's almost good to go. I finished with my usual simple face of mascara and a red lip to pull the outfit all together.

Prior to this dress I hadn't tried anything from Pink Clove but I've been so impressed that since then I've added 2 more pieces (via ASOS)  to my ever goaning wardrobe.

Chunky Yet Funky.

I know I don't like hot weather but I'm surprisingly missing the sunshine it makes my photos just a little bit more joyful alas I seemed to have chronic bitch face in the majority of photos I snapped of this outfit, so apologies. Also my Dads decided that we now have a greenhouse so I'm having to experiment with where I can take my photographs for the time being!

I've already worn this lots so I thought it was about time I posted about it! I tried this swing dress on at the Maristoa Pop up Shop and knew I would one day own it and luckily I now do! It's perfect for dressing up or down and I love picking out the colours of the birds with accessories, which as you can see I've done here with this fabulous over sized clutch (which I rarely use, tut tut!) and my insanely amazing custom made necklace by Black Heart Creatives!

Marisota Pop Up Shop!

 I attended this event what seems like ages ago now (it probably was) but with another uni deadline rearing it's ugly head and lots of things happening I've only just had a chance to pop these snaps up! I was so happy that Marisota choose to have a Pop up in Manchester for a number of reasons, a) because it's where Marisota are based and JD Williams head office is just five minutes away from where they decided to have the shop and b) because it meant I could leave from work and actually attend something. Due to working mid weeks and my two days off actually being the days I'm in uni I feel like I keep having to turn down such amazing opportunities as of late!

It was wonderful to see a few blogger ladies, faces of old and new(ish) including the fab Beth and Steph you can see me with above. Me and Beth almost became twins deciding to try on the same dresses each time! I would have said it wasn't planned but in the end it was! I saw shown lots of lovely pieces as part of the Shapeology idea and surprisingly found pieces I wouldn't normally have tried on looking pretty good on me. A favourite piece being a lovely swing dress I'll have some snaps of up on the blog soon!

We also got the chance to meet the fab Mark Heyes, I had a quick chat with him towards the end as I didn't get there until gone six. he was lovely and dressed all in white (reminded me of a modern day angel? No just me then...) of course I had to get a cheeky snap or three with him! I'd like to thank the fab team for inviting me to go down and for how amazing everything was laid out! I really hope Marisota think about launching some stores in the future (North West first please!)

Marisota SS14 Style Challenge.

The lovely guys at Marisota gave me the chance to style up an item from there upcoming SS2014 pieces and I was lucky enough to be sent this beautiful Boucle Biker Jacket from the Ava by Mark Heyes collection. It's something I wouldn't usually go for as it's such a pale colour and for someone as accident prone as me it's something I tend to shy away from. I can't get over how grown up I actually feel in this get up, of course I've still got my creative focal points to stop me feeling overly mature with my polka dot socks, pointed flats, quirky frames and heart necklace but I felt very professional in this like I could take over the world? I received this in a size 20 and it fits a dream, it doesn't zip up on me but as I don't wear any jackets done up this isn't a problem for me. It even fits well with a jumper under neath, so perfect for layering!

I decided to style this with jeans to keep it on the more casual side another item I tend to avoid due to the fact they never seem to fit me nicely and I end up with my tummy getting cut in two with the waistband or just a very baggy bum! For the time being these basic straight leg jeans from Matalan ( a bargain at a £10) shall suffice. The top is a very recent purchase for my upcoming trip to London for a few days with uni as it's comfortable, doesn't crease easily and I love the mesh piece at the top, I actually sized up to a 22 in this thinking it would be loose but as you can see it's not so I'd certainly suggest going up a dress size. I finished the look with my latest piece of bling that fabulous heart cut out necklace and a slick of my trade mark coloured lips!

Apologies if my photographs are a little off, I've recently upgraded to a snazzier camera and I'm still getting used to the setting and no I haven't bothered reading the instructions....

The Ladylike Look With Marisota.

I adore anything in a 1940s style as if you've been a follower of my blog for a while you may recall this time last year there being a number of posts about the Womens Land Army and 1940s fashion ( this was due to my collection for college but I truly enjoyed doing it!)

In case you didn't know Marisota are a plus size clothing catalogue who sell some of the loveliest things! So I thought I'd bring it back with a Ladylike look with all items from Marisota's wonderful array of lines and collections. To me nothing screams the vintage style like a matte red lip colour and I often sport the make up myself though with a modern twist and this is what I love about all these pieces there all very classic but with a modern take be it in the detailing or fabric which is used.

The style of this blouse reminded me very much of blouses worn in the Forties I simply love the slight volume in the sleeves and the ruffle detailing around the neck. I would choose to wear this with the Bespoke Perfect Black Pencil Skirt which would show off a hourglass figure perfectly and give a beautiful 1940s silhouette. Then I also think these darling gloves would accessorise the outfit perfect and all you'd need to finish off the look would be victory rolls in your hair and a slick of pillar box red lippy!
