Feeling Dressy with Elvi.

Navy Wrap Dress: c/o Elvi. Shoes: Mel Shoes via Asos. Handcuff Long Necklace (worn as choker): Asos.

Well not only do I feel particularly dressy but also rather grown up in this dress something I rarely am in my day to day life. The lovely team at Elvi offered me the chance to review a piece from the range and I thought something classic would fit into my wardrobe rather well. Which it certainly this beautifully made wrap over dress certainly does!

I decided to size up to a UK22 in this Elvi dress as with jersey pieces they often cling to my middle and if I get my usual size I tend to spend the whole time tugging at it so I don't feel quite so self conscious. But for this dress I really didn't have to as the fabric is thick so drapes beautifully without highlighting any less than confident areas. Though it doesn't look to big on me as you can easily tie it a little tighter on the side. This dress is a true wrap over not one where only the top ties and it's sewn in to the other seam which is something I'm not usually a massive fan of as I prefer to be able to tie and adjust fully. I decided to add a little fun with my Mel shoes jelly wedges which I utterly love and wish I had in more colours and my handcuff  long line necklace from Asos, I've been struggling with how to wear this necklace as it just never looked right but I decided to wear it in a choker style and I think it works much better! Over all I do like this look even though it's different to my usual style! What do you think?

70s Revival with Yours Clothing.

Black Kimono, Tassel Bag and Tile Print Tunic: all c/o Yours Clothing. Hair Chain: New Look. Shoes: Matalan.

I'm sure you've all seen the massive 70s revival that is circulating at the moment and I'm so happy that some plus size companies have taken it on board and have given the trend option to girls like me as well! One of my favourites being Yours Clothing who were lovely enough to offer me the chance to style up some of their pieces. This trend is something I'd normally lust from afar as the 70s isn't really an era I take inspiration from for my day to day wear as I'm a 1950s girl at heart but I'm so happy I have for this as I'm loving it!

I've accidentally gone a little gothy for these photos but I quite like it! I picked up this hair chain up a few weeks ago as I've been dying to try one but I just wasn't sure I'd be able to pull one off (and I'm still a little undecided!) however I do feel it works really well with the rest of the look, maybe I'm just far to used to my full fringe! I felt with this I didn't need any other accessories such as jewellery but the lovely tassel bag was the perfect finishing touch! I adore these garments and I didn't think I really suited kimono's but this one I've fallen head over heels for and can't wait to wear it over other dresses come the summer. The dress is also extremely comfortable and is a subtle nod to the 70s trend without being overly in your face like hardcore flares would be! For reference I sized up in the tunic to a UK22 as I do with all things this shape just to give a looser look so it doesn't cling to my tummy. For the Kimono I'm wearing a dual size 20/22 and feel this is true to size and would fit either really well!

Sock It To Me!

I was pretending to be a cat.... Cameow STRETCH IT Knee High.

IT'SSSS SO FLUFFY! (couldn't resist a despicable me quote) Unicorn STRETCH IT Knee High.

These are from the main range and deffinitely don't fit my chunky calves! Womens Glasses Knee High.

All Socks c/o Sock It To Me! Oversized Peplum Top: Asos. Black Shorts: Matalan.

When the fabulous guys over at Sock It To Me pinged into my inbox showing me their latest pieces asking if I'd like to showcase some on my blog it was a no brain-er! I'm always on the look out for comfortable and funky socks, I basically live in socks as my feet get really cold but fun ones for chubby feet can be quite difficult to find. So when they mentioned their new STRETCH IT KNEE HIGHS I thought it would be brilliant to test these out for you! They are supposed to stretch up to 21 inches in circumference without the pattern distorting and I think this is genuinely true. Now I'm not 100% sure how big my calves are but I know they are pretty stocky and these socks fitted really comfortably without cutting in at the crease of my knee (which oh so many high socks do!) and the fabric didn't feel tight against my skin and felt like there was still room in them before they'd become uncomfortable. I loved both prints and they're super fun and something I'd happily wear all day as well as being undeniably cute! (Yes I was pretending to be a cat in the top image #sorrynotsorry)

I also decided to choose a pair from the main range for comparison and man they are snug, as you can see by my grumpy face I really struggled to get them up even half way which shows that the STRETCH IT ones definitely work! However I'll still wear these cute glasses print ones as they will work fine rolled down for a slouchy look. And finally I chose the crew length black cat ones because I thought they were just adorable and could look really lovely with a summery swing dress and converse in the summer or equally fabulous with a pair of sandals (can't help but love the socks and sandals look!)

I thought I'd have a little fun with these photos! Though I really need to get some lighting for when I take snaps in my bedroom as I feel they came out a little dark. So what do you think of Sock It To Me? and in particular their STRETCH IT range I think they're fab for the more curvier girls out there! I can't wait to see if they bring out more in the line as I love loads of their prints and patterns!

The Edna Cardigan by Voodoo Vixen.

Glasses: c/o Specspost. Cardigan: Voodoo Vixen (available at Simply Be). Circle Skirt: Made by me. Boots: Simply Be (old).

This is my second post featuring Voodoo Vixen the first can be seen here. This cardigan actually matches the fabulous Connie Dress perfectly but I thought I'd style them up separately as I was desperate to see if this cardigan would work with my lipstick circle skirt I made for myself last summer and low and behold it does! Again I utterly adore this cardigan and it fits much better than the first cardigan (which I still love) I tried from their collection here. I found with the first one that the knitted band at the bottom of the cardigan didn't stretch anything like the rest of it which meant it wouldn't button up but as you can see from my photos above this time round I didn't have a problem with it at all! I also found that overall it's a little thicker and softer and the sleeves could be rolled up with once pulled down didn't really loose the shape or stretch to much. I have to admit I can't resist the glasses print either and what better this is also available on Simply Be now as well! Here I'm wearing a 2XL but I feel I could have also gone down a size and it would have been fine.

I decided to really run with the red theme and paired it with these awesome frames Spectpost sent me just before Christmas! You will have seen them on my instagram but I was struggling what to wear them with and I just knew it when I put this look together that I'd have to, my only problem is that I probably need a petite pair of frames as my nose is quite small so these slide off alot. I genuinely love Specspost they're really helpful and I've had some frames reglazed by them and couldn't recommend them enough. In fact I have two more pairs to send off to them soon! The fabric I made the skirt with I picked up in London last February and I loved it so much than whenever I've had the chance I buy around 4 metres as I'm yet to find it anywhere up north! I'd love to make a dress out of this fabric soon but I'll just have to see if I have the time and enough print left! I finished the look with lashing of red lip gloss/stain (which is fabulous for photos but the most impractical thing ever my hair ALWAYS sticks to it when it's windy!)

Have you checked out all the Voodoo Vixen collection available at Simply Be yet? And seen some of the fabulous frames Specpost have to offer?
